Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin Prediction (28.01.2023)

On Saturday afternoon, German capital rivals Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin clash in what could be a massive derby in the Bundesliga.

The Oldy Lady is once again struggling for their Bundesliga lives, as Hertha finds themselves in 17th place in the Bundesliga table. Stefan Schwarz's team are still just two points behind the teams in 15th and 16th place, though, so all is not yet lost for Hertha.

However, their recent league form suggests that they may well be in the relegation zone for much of the season, as they go into this match on the back of five defeats in their last six league matches. Hertha has also won just two of their previous ten Bundesliga matches on home soil.

Urs Fischer’s team seem to go from strength to strength in the Bundesliga. The visitors are currently in second place in the German top-flight table, trailing champions and league leaders Bayern Munich by just three points.

After a slight blip before the winter break, Union now seems to be back on track after back-to-back league wins over Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen.

Union's recent league games have certainly not lacked goals, as their last seven matches in the German top flight have produced over 2.5 goals.

The visitor's recent away record in the Bundesliga has been highly inconsistent, as they have won four and lost four of their last eight league matches on their travels.

Hertha will be missing defender Agustin Rogel through suspension, while Jonjoe Kenny, Stevan Jovetic, Chidera Ejuke, and Kelian Nsona look set to miss out through injury. Union looks set to be without Morten Thorsby due to an abdominal issue.

Hertha has been poor of late in the Bundesliga, while Union looks close to returning to their best form. I am backing Union to record the victory and take three vital points.
