On Saturday evening, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen clash at the Red Bull Arena in what promises to be one of the most entertaining clashes of the Bundesliga season so far.
RB Leipzig form guideLast time out, Marco Rose’s team suffered a surprise 1-0 home defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. It was a case of missed opportunities for Die Roten Bullen.
The loss ended a four-game unbeaten run for Leipzig that included three victories and a draw.
The home team is still in fourth place in the Bundesliga table, although they are now only three points clear of fifth-place Dortmund in the race for Champions League qualification.
The defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt ended a 12-game unbeaten run at the Red Bull Arena for Leipzig in the Bundesliga. In fact, Rose’s team had recorded four straight home league wins and scored at least two goals in their previous four games on home soil in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen form guideDie Werkself recorded a last-gasp 1-0 win at Augsburg courtesy of a late Exequiel Palacios goal last time out, despite Xabi Alonso’s team missing some key players due to international call-ups and injury.
The victory means that Bayer has now won 23 of their 26 competitive games this season, including their last three matches in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bochum and most recently, Augsburg.
Leverkusen’s good form has them placed at the top of the Bundesliga table, four points clear of reigning German champions Bayern Munich, although the Bavarians have a game in hand on Bayer.
The visitors have been strong on their Bundesliga travels this season as they head into this clash unbeaten in their last eight away games, having recorded six wins and two draws.
What am I backing?Even without some key players, these are two of the best attacking teams in the Bundesliga. I expect this to be a goal-filled encounter, so the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored.
