Another week of scintillating Chinese Super League action is on the way as we continue on through the summer. There’s a whole lot of action to get through at both ends of the table, and today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an interesting clash between Wuhan Three Towns and Meizhou Kejia.
Wuhan Form GuideThe now-infamous city of Wuhan has its own set of warriors in the form of Three Towns but so far this season, picking up draws has been a big part of their itinerary. They’ve only lost three games in the league out of 17 played which is always a positive, but they just can’t seem to convert their draws into wins. If they aren’t careful, they could slip into a season that fans barely even remember in the years to come.
Wuhan started the month with two nice wins over Shenzhen and Changchun, before being beaten 3-1 during a trip to Shanghai to take on the league leaders. Most recently, though, they pulled off a nice draw when travelling to take on Beijing.
Meizhou Form GuideMeizhou Kejia’s form has left a lot to be desired recently and with just four wins to their name so far this season, you have to wonder if critics were right to write them off before the campaign had even begun. They have some young talent that could start to come through the floodgates in the months ahead, but it’s going to take a lot of hard work in training, and we aren’t sure if they’ve got the stomach for it.
Meizhou fought hard to earn a point away at Nantong around three weeks ago. Following that, they rattled off two nice wins over Chengdu and Beijing, before slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat courtesy of Shenhua.
Match PredictionIt feels like the hosts have been overdue a ‘big moment’, so to speak, and we wouldn’t be at all shocked to see that come here. It’s going to be a battle with the visitors digging their heels in, but they aren’t that strong defensively, which is why we’re going to back a Wuhan win.
