We continue to fly through the Chinese Super League campaign as teams across the top tier attempt to push towards their ultimate goal - whether it be the title, survival or somewhere in between. Today, we’ll be taking a look at an important clash between Wuhan Three Towns and Henan Jianye.
Wuhan Form GuideThe now-infamous city of Wuhan has its own set of warriors in the form of Three Towns but so far this season, picking up draws has been a big part of their itinerary. They’ve only lost four games in the league out of 20 played which is always a positive, but they just can’t seem to convert their draws into wins. If they aren’t careful, they could slip into a season that fans barely even remember in the years to come.
Wuhan looked good in back-to-back wins over Meizhou and Qingdao, but again, they weren’t really able to put fans at ease by really putting their foot on the gas. From there, they were disappointed to slip up in a 2-1 defeat away at Hangzhou.
Henan Form GuideIt’s been a mixed start to the season for Henan so far, and that’s us putting it lightly. There are so few goals scored in the games they take part in, with the big problem being their inability to convert their chances. They’ve got a lot of talent in their ranks and it would be a great shame to see it wasted, but they need to start considering the very real possibility of a relegation battle in the near future.
Thre last three games have been predictably unpredictable for Henan. They drew 1-1 with Nantong, beat Shenzhen 3-1, and then fell to a 3-1 defeat away at Beijing despite actually looking good at points during the game.
Match PredictionNeither of these teams are doing a great job of living up to their potential, and if anything, we’d say they’re falling short by quite a substantial margin. There are going to be a few flashes of brilliance here and there, as you’d expect in the top tier, but ultimately, we’ll end up with a draw.
