We continue to fly through the Chinese Super League campaign as teams across the top tier attempt to push towards their ultimate goal - whether it be the title, survival or somewhere in between. Today, we’ll be taking a look at an important clash between Hangzhou Greentown and Wuhan Three Towns.
Hangzhou Form GuideAfter 25 years of existence, Hangzhou Greentown have certainly made themselves known as regulars in the top flight. Last season was a great showing as they finished in third, with their only superior performances being two runners-up medals. While they’ve been able to look good in a lot of their recent outings, they need to maintain that momentum if they want to really turn their campaign around.
It seems as if losses to Shijiazhuang and Shenhua really did wake Hangzhou up from some kind of slumber. They fought hard to earn a point in a clash with Changchun, and have gone on to win three games 2-1 against Tianjin, Shandong and Chengdu.
Wuhan Form GuideThe now-infamous city of Wuhan has its own set of warriors in the form of Three Towns but so far this season, picking up draws has been a big part of their itinerary. They’ve only lost three games in the league out of 19 played which is always a positive, but they just can’t seem to convert their draws into wins. If they aren’t careful, they could slip into a season that fans barely even remember in the years to come.
Wuhan did well to win consecutive games against Shenzhen and Changchun at the start of the month, but fell short in a 3-1 loss to Shanghai. They scraped a point against Beijing just four days later before rattling off two nice wins over Meizhou and Qingdao.
Match PredictionWuhan are going to take the fight to Hangzhou, and the hosts will be all too happy to receive that kind of welcome. This has the makings of a game that is going to be remembered for all of the chaos it brings and because of that, we simply have to predict that over 2.5 goals will be scored.
