On Sunday morning, the top two teams in the Dutch Eredivisie, Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven, go head-to-head at the Stadion Feijenoord.
Feyenoord form guideThe reigning Dutch champions suffered a 3-1 home defeat by Atletico Madrid in the midweek Champions League games. The defeat means that they have lost three of their previous four games in Europe’s elite competition.
However, their league form greatly contrasts their results in the Eredivisie, as Arne Slot’s team has won ten of their last 11 Eredivisie games. They have also scored at least two goals in ten of their previous 12 matches in the Dutch top flight.
Despite their recent stellar league form, second-place Feyenoord are still trailing Sunday’s opposition by seven points at the top of the table.
A strong recent record at De Kuip of five straight victories will give Feyenoord hope that they can reduce the gap to PSV. The fact that they have been high-scoring on home soil lately has helped to get them positive results, as Feyenoord has scored 20 goals in their last five home league games.
PSV Eindhoven form guidePSV have made an impressive start to the new Eredivisie season, winning all 13 league games while scoring 48 goals and conceding just five in the campaign.
Last time out, Peter Bosz’s team recorded a 3-2 win at Sevilla in the Champions League. The victory put the visitors in a healthy position to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.
However, their priority this season will be winning the domestic title for the first time since 2018. Their potent attack has played a significant role in their position at the top of the Eredivisie, as they have scored at least three goals in the last 12 league matches.
What am I backing? This should be a highly entertaining encounter between two highly prolific teams. The bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored.
