On Wednesday night, Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord host NEC Nijmegen in the last 16 of the KNVB Beker.

The Eredivisie leaders are enjoying a highly promising campaign all around. Arne Slot’s team is two points clear at the top of the Dutch top-flight table. A 2-2 home draw with PSV Eindhoven means that Feyenoord are unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions. However, they have drawn three of their last four competitive matches.

Coupled with their good league form this season, Feyenoord has a recent decent record in the KNVB Beker, as they have won four of their last six matches in the competition.

The team from Rotterdam also have an excellent recent home record in the KNVB Beker, having recorded victories in 16 of their last 17 home matches.

The visitors head to Rotterdam on a highly inconsistent run of form, as NEC have now won just one of their previous five games in all competitions. Last time out, NEC suffered a 1-0 defeat against Go Ahead Eagles, which leaves them ten points adrift of the top seven and seven points clear of the relegation play-off spot in the Dutch top flight.

Despite their recent underwhelming league form, NEC has a decent record in the KNVB Beker, having won five of their last six games in the competition while scoring at least two goals in each of the wins.

The visitors have also won their last four away games in the Dutch Cup while scoring at least twice in each of the victories.

Neither team has any reported injuries or suspensions. However, Feyenoord boss Slot is expected to make changes to his starting line-up, with Oussama Idrissi, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Danilo and Jacob Rasmussen all expected to start. NEC head coach Roger Meijer may name an unchanged line from last time out.

Although Feyenoord has drawn four of their last six league matches, I am backing the home side to come out on top in this clash.
