Another week of scintillating Chinese Super League action is on the way as we continue on through the summer. There’s a whole lot of action to get through at both ends of the table, and today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an interesting clash between Chengdu Better City and Dalian Aerbin.
Chengdu Form GuideFollowing a fifth place finish in their first ever season in the top flight, you could say that Chengdu are feeling pretty confident. They’ve started as they mean to go on with another really strong start to proceedings, but they’ve certainly tailed off in the push for the championship. Better City will continue to fight hard against just about anyone, but that isn’t always a guarantee for success.
Chengdu suffered consecutive defeats courtesy of Beijing and Meizhou a few weeks back, but they did look much better at home to Henan, earning a 2-0 win. The good times didn’t last for long, though, thanks to a 2-1 defeat away at Shijiazhuang.
Dalian Form GuideThey’ve only won one game all season and they are stuck at the bottom of the table, and yet, there’s still hope that they could survive - probably as a result of their recent form, combined with the ‘quality’ of the teams around them. Dalian have struggled to find the kind of consistent quality within their squad that they sorely need, but at the very least, there’s more optimism than there was a few weeks back.
Dalian have been drawing games of football like it’s going out of fashion. Across their last six matches they have drawn all six against: Beijing, Wuhan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Nantong and Changchun.
Match PredictionThe uneasy nature of Chengdu’s recent form, alongside the pressure of the situation they are in at the top of the table, means that this has the potential to be a really interesting game. Dalian are going to try and squeak out a result as they’ve done in the past, and regardless of whether or not they succeed, we believe we’ll see under 2.5 goals scored.
