Borussia Monchengladbach vs FC Schalke 04 Prediction (04.02.2023)

On Saturday evening, Monchengladbach hosts Schalke at Borussia Park in the Bundesliga as the visitors look for vital points at the bottom of the table.

The Foals' form in the Bundesliga this season has been underwhelming, as they currently sit in eighth place in the table, seven points adrift of the European spots.

Daniel Farke’s team has won just three of their last nine matches in the Bundesliga. Last time out in the German top flight, the Foals recorded a 4-1 win at Hoffenheim. The game continued a high-scoring trend for Gladbach in the Bundesliga, as 11 of their last 12 league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Monchengladbach has a highly inconsistent recent home record, winning four of their last seven league games on home soil in the Bundesliga.

The team from Gelsenkirchen are currently rock bottom of the Bundesliga table, having picked up just ten points from their 18 Bundesliga games this season.

The Royals Blues head into this clash on the back of a four-game winless run in the German top flight. A 0-0 draw against Koln last time out ended a three-game losing run for the visitors. The game also saw Schalke fail to score for the third time in four Bundesliga outings.

Unsurprisingly, the visitors have the worst defensive and attacking records in the German top flight.

Schalke have been atrocious on their travels, as they are winless in 36 Bundesliga games on their travels dating back to 2019.

Monchengladbach has no definite injury absentees, but Marcus Thuram, Christoph Kramer and Jonas Hofmann are all injury doubts. Schalke will likely be without Sebastian Polter, Justin Heekeren, Sepp van den Berg and Niklas Tauer through injuries.

Monchengladbach has been inconsistent this season, but Schalke has, at times, been truly shocking in the current campaign. I am backing the Foals to add to Schalke’s relegation worries.
