On Saturday night, two of the Bundesliga’s heavyweights, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, go head-to-head at the Red Bull Arena in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
RB Leipzig form guideDie Roten Bullen have recovered from their opening day 3-2 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen by recording four straight Bundesliga victories. Last time out, Marco Rose’s team produced a 1-0 win at Monchengladbach courtesy of a rare Timo Werner goal.
The game saw Leipzig keep their third straight clean sheet of the Bundesliga campaign. At the other end of the pitch, the home team has also scored at least two goals in four of their five league games this season.
RB Leipzig have an excellent recent home record in the German top flight, as they have won seven of their last nine home games while also scoring at least two goals in seven of the matches in the stellar home run.
Bayern Munich form guideThomas Tuchel’s team continued their strong start to the season by hammering Bochum 7-0 at the Allianz Arena last time out. The result means that Bayern have won five of their last six matches in the Bundesliga dating back to last season, having also scored at least two goals in their previous six league games.
Despite their strong start to the new Bundesliga campaign, the Bavarians are still only top of the standings courtesy of a superior goal difference to second-place Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern have been strong on their travels of late in the German top-flight, winning their last four away games. A key to that recent stellar away run has been their firepower, as Tuchel’s team has scored at least twice in all four straight wins away from home.
What am I backing? This could potentially be one of the Bundesliga games of the season. The encounter pitches strong home and away teams against each other. This game could go either way, but what I am expecting is goals galore in this clash, which is why I am backing over 2.5 goals.
