On Sunday afternoon, two of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund, go head-to-head at the BayArena.
Bayer Leverkusen form guideDie Werkself currently sits at the top of the pile in the Bundesliga, two points clear of second-place reigning champions Bayern Munich.
Xabi Alonso’s team extended their winning run in all competitions to 14 games on Thursday, as Bayer recorded a comfortable 2-0 win at Hacken in the Europa League. While Leverkusen’s attacking efforts have been lauded this season, their last outing saw them keep their fourth straight clean sheet in all competitions.
However, talking about goals, Bayer has scored at least two goals in all their matches in the Bundesliga this season.
The league leaders also have a formidable home record in the German top flight dating back to last season, as they are unbeaten in seven home league games, having recorded six consecutive wins. Bayer has also scored at least twice in all seven unbeaten home games.
Dortmund form guideBVB have dropped down to fourth place in the Bundesliga due to some unconvincing results this season, ten points adrift of their opponents.
Despite their, at times, unpredictable displays this season, BVB heads into this clash on the back of two straight victories over Monchengladbach and Milan. Edin Terzic’s team has also been relatively prolific in front of goal of late, scoring at least two goals in three of their last four outings.
However, it has not all been rosy at Dortmund lately, as the win over Gladbach ended a three-game winless streak in the Bundesliga.
The visitors have been difficult to beat on their travels, though, as a 2-1 defeat at Stuttgart in their last away match in the league ended a seven-game unbeaten run.
What am I backing? This game promises to be one of the most entertaining encounters of the weekend in the Bundesliga. With both teams potent in attack, the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored.
