The Premier League returns once again this weekend as we continue to march through the first month of the new campaign. There’s still a whole lot we have to learn about all 20 teams involved in this season’s top flight, and on Saturday, we’ll find out more about Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers as they clash at Goodison Park.
Everton Form GuideEverton fans have spent the last few years dreading the possibility of a one-way trip to the Championship after decades of top flight football. Still, while the Toffees have been feeling anxious for quite some time, there’s still some cautious optimism in the air that this season will be different. Whether that’s realistic, though, remains to be seen, as is so often the case for them.
The Toffees didn’t exactly look inspired on the opening weekend as they slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Fulham. Then, on an away day trip to the second city, they were battered 4-0 by Aston Villa.
Wolves Form GuideWolverhampton Wanderers are a club in trouble. Julen Lopetegui is gone, Gary O’Neil is in, the fans aren’t happy, and the owners appear to be doing everything in their power to drag the Black Country boys back down to the Championship. They’ve still got a solid squad and they aren’t the outright favourites for relegation, but it’s hard not to be worried by what we’re seeing at Molineux.
Wolves fans came away from Old Trafford with some hope as they pushed United all the way to the limit, only to lose 1-0 courtesy of a bizarre VAR decision. At home to Brighton, though, they had no excuses, as they were put to the sword in a 4-1 defeat.
Match PredictionTwo clubs that are low on confidence without a point to their name? Get ready for something scrappy. It’s strange to call this a relegation six-pointer so early on in the campaign but that’s exactly what it feels like, and for that reason, we’re going to predict under 2.5 goals scored.
