After returning with a full book of fixtures on Saturday, League One sides are quickly back in action with another full book of games on Tuesday night. We've got a Lancashire clash included in those, with Wigan hosting Fleetwood, and these two are separated by just three points, Wigan outside of the relegation zone, and Fleetwood inside it.
Wigan Form GuideOf course, Wigan's points total is artifical really, when you consider the eight points they had taken off them at the start of the season for failing to pay players. So their total of 19, should really be 27 they have gained, and had it been that on the table, that would be enough for 9th position.
Relegated from the Championship last season, I will admit to expecting a little more from this side, even though they had the deduction. In their last five, Wigan have won two, drawn two and lost one, with the two draws coming in their last two matches. The most recent of those was a good point, drawing 1-1 away at Leyton Orient.
Fleetwood Form GuideFleetwood sit just inside of the relegation zone, and that was to be expected. They managed to escape the drop last season, and had an abundance of off the field issues to solve over the summer, which set them up for a very tough start to the new season. Those are still around, but it does feel like people are now talking more about the game on the field, than the troubles off it.
Four wins and four draws from 17 games, Fleetwood have two of those wins and two draws in their last five games, a run that has seen them pick up points far better. But they do come here on the back of a loss, they were beaten 3-0 at home by high flying Stevenage at the weekend, and will be looking to bounce back from that.
Match PredictionSadly for Fleetwood fans, I don't think they are going to bounce back here, I am backing Wigan for the win. They look a big price at home, are playing fairly well, and are only near the bottom due to a points deduction, I think they will have too much quality for Fleetwood on Tuesday.
