The Premier League is back with a full set of midweek fixtures as we return to regularly scheduled programming to end the chaotic month of January. There are so many things up in the air at both ends of the table but hopefully, in the weeks ahead, we’ll start to get a bit more clarity. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between West Ham United and Bournemouth.
West Ham Form GuideWest Ham United haven’t known days as good as this in a long time. They are the current holders of the Conference League title, they’re going well in the Europa League, and they are as solid as ever in the Premier League. David Moyes has figured out a formula that works, which should serve as a real warning for the rest of the clubs in the top flight this season.
After beating Manchester United and Arsenal, the Hammers were held to a 0-0 draw by Brighton. They proceeded to draw 1-1 with Bristol City and lost the replay 1-0 in the FA Cup, before only managing a 2-2 draw on the road against Sheffield United.
Bournemouth Form GuideIn the space of just a few months, Bournemouth have gone from one of the favourites for relegation to a team that looks pretty comfortable. They are midtable in the Premier League right now and although they aren’t out of the woods when it comes to avoiding the drop, the Cherries should certainly be feeling good about their prospects.
Bournemouth’s wins over Nottingham Forest and Fulham were followed by a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham, but they did respond well with a 3-2 victory against QPR. They then lost 4-0 to Liverpool at home, but rebounded with a 5-0 win over Swansea in the FA Cup.
Match PredictionBoth of these sides would be within their rights to feel confident about the future, and that should make for quite an exciting battle this week. They both have impact players who can cause issues in the final third, which we believe will lead us down the path of over 2.5 goals scored.
