10 games take place in the Championship on Saturday, with this one featuring Watford and Cardiff as one of them. Both are around the mid table area in the Championship, though Watford are just above, while Cardiff are just below. In terms of expectations for the season, this is pretty much where I'd put them both.
Watford Form GuideWatford are in the playoff race, and begin the weekend just three points off 6th place, so you have to say that, but they would have been a hell of a lot closer had recent form being a little better. That's let them down, too many draws, and they need to snap out of that, if they want to move forward again.
They are unbeaten in their last five league games, a big positive, and are unbeaten in two cup games during that period, so seven overall. But of those five league games, four have been draws, so despite a good run, it's seven points from five games. That's not good enough compared to the others in the playoff race.
Cardiff Form GuideCardiff were right up there a couple of months ago, but have since slipped down to a more recognisable position. That's not really down to them playing poorly right now, more about them overachieving in the early part of the season, I think they're settling in the right place now.
They come here after losing three of their last four league matches, with one win in that period. Their win came over QPR, a relegation fighter, they won 2-1 away there, but have lost to Leicester before that, and both Leeds and Plymouth since then. They also lost to Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup during that period.
Match PredictionI think Watford are going to take the three points here. I don't think either team is at their best, but Watford have a little more quality about them, especially when it comes to scoring goals, and that is enough for them to snatch the win here.
