Rounding off the weekend action in Italy, we have three games from Serie A on Monday night, more than usual due to the midweek list of fixtures we've had recently. But plenty of fans to enjoy, and we kick off with Torino v Verona in the early game, a close encounter, but one where I really have a strong fancy, given how the team has started the season.
Torino Form GuideRight in the middle of the pack, with a very even record after the first six games of the season, this is what I expected from Torino, but they'll feel like there is a little more to come. Two wins, two losses, two draws, it's good, although they will look at their goals record, which stands at just six goals from six games, and think that would be the main way they can improve and push forward a little more.
They come here on the back of a 2-0 loss at Lazio last week, which was always going to be a tough game, before that things were better. They drew with Roma, and won twice against Salernitana and Genoa before that, so there is plenty of optimism with how they are going so far.
Verona Form GuideWith a similar record, Verona come here with two wins, one draw and three defeats, so are one point behind Torino before they kick off on Monday night. I've not been as impressed with Verona, and it should be said that their two wins came in their first two games of the season, so they arrive here now without a win from their last four games.
Most recently, Verona lost 1-0 at home to Atalanta and before that, they lost 1-0 away against AC Milan. It should also be noted that in the game before those two defeats, Verona drew 0-0 with Bologna, which means they head here on the back of three games where they have failed to score.
Match PredictionI really like Torino here. They are not the most consistent side, and need more goals, but they've impressed me in parts this season. Compared that to Verona, who have two wins, but they feel like a long time ago now, and have goalscoring troubles of their own, so I'll take Torino for the home win.
