Major League Soccer is back in our lives for yet another season of action across North America. We’re in the early stages of the new campaign but there’s already so much to get excited about from West to East, as the majority of teams gear up for a hopeful run to the MLS Cup. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an intriguing clash between FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Dallas Form GuideDallas edged their way into the playoffs and finished in seventh spot in the Western Conference - with some arguing they didn’t belong there based on the campaign as a whole. In the playoffs, in all fairness, they did well to take Seattle to a third game in their best of three series - but they came up on the losing end. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
Dallas went on the road to battle New York Red Bulls last weekend and unfortunately for them, they weren’t quite able to stack up to their opponents. They left with a 2-1 defeat and more than a few questions about their defensive structure.
Vancouver Form GuideVancouver did a solid job of getting into the playoffs with a sixth place finish in the Western Conference. From there, they earnt a meeting with Los Angeles in the first round, but they bowed out in pretty convincing fashion. Despite such a setback, they’ve still got the kind of infrastructure necessary to make some noise in the weeks and months ahead - and we’re intrigued to see how they perform.
Vancouver took their talents to San Jose last weekend and, for the most part, they looked really solid. They kept it tight at the back and looked capable going forward, rattling off a nice 2-0 win in the process.
Match PredictionDallas and Vancouver both have the potential to do some interesting work this season and in a game like this, we expect to see them shine in more ways than one. It’s a tough game to predict but we’re going to try, shooting for over 2.5 goals scored.
