We’ve arrived at the quarter-final stage of UEFA Euro 2024, and things are really starting to heat up. There are eight nations left in the hunt to become champions of Europe, and all of them have a valid reason to believe that they can go all the way. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an electric encounter as Netherlands square off against Turkey.
Netherlands Form GuideThe Dutch tend to float between looking absolutely incredible and looking very average, and there often isn’t a middle ground. They have one of the most passionate fanbases in the tournament and they certainly have players who can make a sustained impact at both ends of the pitch, but there are still a few uncertainties regarding their potential to go really deep in the Euros.
Netherlands fans were perhaps fearing the worst in their clash with Romania but after the first half hour or so, they began to really work their way into the game. They had to really grind for the result but they wound up making it look comfortable with a 3-0 win.
Turkey Form GuideTurkey have been magnificent to watch up to this point in the Euros and long may it continue. Their fans have travelled in their thousands and it really has been quite remarkable to see what they’ve been able to bring to the tournament both on and off the pitch. They aren’t seen as one of the favourites to go all the way, but perhaps that’s what they need to fly under the radar.
In what proved to be the best game of the knockouts so far, Turkey managed to spring a real upset as they overcame the challenge of Austria - who many tipped to go far. They raced into a 2-0 lead and held on after the favourites got one back, registering a huge 2-1 victory.
Match PredictionThis game, in our view, can’t possibly be anything other than thoroughly entertaining. Both of these nations enjoy playing a fast-paced style and we don’t think they’ll give up on that here. So, for the sake of neutrals across the globe, we’re going to predict over 2.5 goals will be scored.
