French football is back this weekend with a full slate of fixtures across Ligue 1. There’s plenty to get excited about up and down the top flight and as we enter the last few weeks of February, it’ll be interesting to see who can start to build some momentum ahead of the next few months. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun encounter between Le Havre and Toulouse.
Le Havre Form GuideLast season was an incredibly memorable one for Le Havre as they earned promotion to the top flight by winning Ligue 2. They did so after a phenomenal title race with their opponents last weekend and while they haven’t quite started like a house on fire thus far, they’ve put together enough positive results to leave fans believing that there’s real potential in the campaign ahead.
Le Havre went on the road to battle Brest last Sunday and for the most part, they actually looked pretty solid - and they were close to picking up a positive result. Unfortunately for them, that didn’t quite come to fruition as they slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Toulouse Form GuideToulouse finished last season with a pretty below-par spot in the Ligue 1 table but alongside that, they were also able to capture the Coupe de France trophy in convincing fashion. That means they have European football to focus on from this month onwards but for the time being, they’ll want to build up some sustainability and credibility in French football’s top tier.
Last Sunday, Toulouse and Nice went to war in a game that served as a surprise to many. Nice tried to play with their usual fluid style but they couldn’t get into a real rhythm in front of goal, eventually leading to a massive 2-1 win for Toulouse.
Match PredictionLe Havre certainly have the potential to vault away from the relegation zone when they play at their best, but as of late, they just haven’t been at the races in any way, shape or form. This feels like it’ll be a tough one for them, which is why we’re predicting a Toulouse win.
