We’re really into the swing of things in the new Major League Soccer campaign as teams from the west and the east gear up for a really fascinating season of action. The path to the MLS Cup final is often a long and complicated one, but along the way, we expect to see plenty of exciting twists and turns. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Toronto FC and FC Dallas.
Toronto Form GuideToronto were officially the worst team in the MLS last season with just 22 points from 34 games, featuring just four victories in that time. When you consider what they’ve been able to accomplish across the last decade as a whole, you really do have to wonder what went wrong. In addition, it’s hard not to be curious about what the next few months will look like for them.
After defeating Atlanta 2-0, Toronto fell to three straight defeats courtesy of Kansas City, Vancouver and Charlotte. Alas, the bad times didn’t last long as they proceeded to knock off New England and Orlando in narrow victories.
Dallas Form GuideDallas edged their way into the playoffs and finished in seventh spot in the Western Conference - with some arguing they didn’t belong there based on the campaign as a whole. In the playoffs, in all fairness, they did well to take Seattle to a third game in their best of three series - but they came up on the losing end. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
Following defeats to Vancouver and Austin, Dallas only managed 0-0 draws in games with St Louis and Seattle. They lost once again, this time narrowly to Colorado, before finally getting back on their feet with a 2-0 win over Houston.
Match PredictionThere’s a clear gulf in quality between these two sides right now and at this early stage of the season, momentum means everything. We’re pretty excited to see how it plays out in terms of entertainment value, but with regards to a result, we’re going to shoot for a Toronto win.
