Blackburn, close to the relegation zone but seemingly kicking clear, would probably be safe with a win at the weekend, as there would be quite a few teams below them. They've got a tough game though, as 4th placed Southampton are the visitors to Ewood Park.
Blackburn Form GuideOver the past few weeks, with John Eustace in charge, Blackburn have dug in. The football hasn't been pretty, but they're doing enough to survive. They've lost just one of their last five in the league, and that was against current league leaders Ipswich, so there's no shame in losing that one.
They are 17th to start the weekend, with 45 points and that means they're five above the drop zone. But it's tight, four teams are below them and outside of the bottom three. They come here on the back of a massive win on Monday, a 5-1 success over Sunderland away from home, and will be looking to build on that here.
Southampton Form GuideOne time a team looking capable of a very strong top two push, Southampton are now 4th and will have to settle for the playoffs. 11 behind Leicester in 3rd but six ahead of West Brom in 5th, they've a big gap both ways, so it's just a case of cruising into the playoffs and keeping in relatively good form.
But it's not been plain sailing, two wins, two losses and one draw in their last five games has been solid, but no better. They come here on the back of one point over the Easter weekend, a 1-1 draw to Middlesbrough on Friday and a 3-2 loss in the final minutes of the game against Ipswich on Monday.
Match PredictionThis one is tough to call, but I think Blackburn should have hope they can get at least a point from this game. I will back them on the double chance market here, covering a win or them to draw the game, they need the points slightly more than Southampton for me.
