Arsenal will attempt to reignite their Premier League title push on Friday night when they play host to Southampton.
Arsenal Form GuideWhile they may have had a fantastic season up to this point, Arsenal are focused on one thing: finishing the story. It’s going to be an unbelievably tall order given how ferociously Manchester City are coming at them, but it feels as if Mikel Arteta is more than ready for the challenge. They’ve got something to build on either way, but that league title sure would feel special.
The last 10 days, to put it mildly, have been worrying for Arsenal. They first surrendered a 2-0 lead away at Liverpool to draw 2-2 with the Reds at Anfield, and then in a trip to East London, they did the exact same thing and shared the spoils with West Ham.
Southampton Form GuideThings are looking pretty grim for Southampton right now as we look ahead to the final run-in. The Saints are viewed as the favourites to go down after an 11-year stay in the Premier League, which is a shame, given all that they’ve achieved. Still, there’s a chance they could turn it around, with just four points separating them from 17th with seven games left to play.
March ended with cause for hope, but April has knocked the stuffing right back out of the boys from the south coast. They’ve played three games so far this month and in that time, they’ve been beaten by West Ham, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
Latest Team NewsElneny, Tomiyasu and, most crucially, Saliba, are all expected to miss this one through injury with Zinchenko fighting to be fit enough to feature.
Livramento and Larios are both still out injured with Salisu, Adams and Lavia all still having question marks above their head when it comes to fitness levels.
Match PredictionSouthampton need to take their time and ease into this game and if they can do that without getting caught, perhaps they can look to hit the Gunners on the counter. Of course, while that’s a nice idea in theory, we expect the Emirates to be bouncing as Arsenal secure a much-needed win.
