The Turkish Super Lig returns once again this weekend as we continue to march through the winter months. There’s a clear picture beginning to form at both ends of the table as all 20 clubs attempt to build some momentum before we enter the final third of the season. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Antalyaspor and Sivasspor.
Antalyaspor Form GuideWith a strong fanbase and an ability to mix it up with the big boys when called upon, Antalyaspor have done well to establish themselves as a team to watch in Turkey’s top flight. They can be conservative or they can be explosive depending on their mood, but either way, they’re going to scratch and claw for every point they can get at this level.
While they may have had just one shot on target in their clash with Konyaspor, the good news for Antalyaspor is that it didn’t hurt them all too much. They did go 1-0 down just before half time, but Adam Buksa was able to equalise as they eventually held on for a 1-1 draw.
Sivasspor Form GuideBetween their Turkish Cup triumph in 2022 and their periodical push for the championship, Sivasspor are starting to become a club that you can’t afford to take your eyes off of for too long. The Braves are one of the younger teams in the top flight but they have a great deal of heart, and while this campaign hasn’t been perfect, they always have a trick or two up their sleeve.
When they raced into a 2-0 lead with two penalties inside 15 minutes, Sivasspor would’ve been feeling pretty confident. Instead, they managed to lose that two-goal lead before half time, drawing 2-2 against Gaziantep - who finished the game with ten men.
Match PredictionThese two sides have 17 draws between them so far this season and while they’re both good enough to hit that next level, recent evidence suggests they won’t be able to do so. Therefore, to the frustration of many of their fans, we’re going to predict another draw in this one.
