The FA Cup returns this weekend, with the second round of games. Clubs know that when we get to the third round, the big boys all enter, so a win here could lead to a money spinning tie against a Premier League side. In this clash on Friday night, League Two Notts County host League One Shrewsbury.
Notts County Form GuideI really like what Notts County have done this season. Promoted from the Conference, they've taken the step up to League Two completely in their stride. Fancied to have a shot at back to back promotions this season, they are currently 6th in League Two, in a playoff spot, but will be looking ahead and wanting more.
In their most recent game, which came in League Two on Tuesday night, Notts County won 3-1 at home to Crawley Town in what was a comfortable evening for them. It was the same team they beat in the FA Cup first round, that was a 3-2 success, and again it came at home. This is tougher, against League One opponents, but Notts County shouldn't fear anyone.
Shrewsbury Form GuideShrewsbury are in the middles of the League One table, and in recent weeks, have been playing a little better and picking up points. But when I saw them play a few weeks ago, I was incredibly disappointed with their play, offering nothing going forward at all, and that memory is still fresh in my mind, such was the impression they made.
Shrewsbury come into this game on the back of a 0-0 draw at at Exeter on Tuesday night, a good point away from home, especially in an evening game. They won 2-1 at home to Port Vale last weekend in the league, and beat League Two opposition in the FA Cup first round, when they won 3-2 at home to Shrewsbuy.
Match PredictionI've still not got a great feeling about Shrewsbury, and really respect what Notts County are trying to do. They are a strong side, play good football, and I think they can win this game, upsetting their higher league opponents.
