In another big game of the weekend from the Championship, we've got a relegation clash as Millwall host Sheffield Wednesday. The home side are in 21st, four points clear of the drop zone, while Sheffield Wednesday are in 23rd, seven points off Millwall who they are chasing. Huge is probably an understatement.
Millwall Form GuideMillwall have been dragged into the relegation battle on the back of some pretty poor performances. They've got five teams ahead of them, all within three points or less, so there's an easy route out of this, they just have to play a lot better, and become better at grinding points out.
They're here on the back of three losses in a row, though it is only fair to point out that they've all been against some of the best sides in this league. A 4-0 loss to Ipswich came in midweek and before that, a 2-1 loss at Coventry and a 1-0 loss at Hull. It's not been great, but this game offers them a much easier side to take on.
Sheffield Wednesday Form GuideI've got conflicting views on Sheffield Wednesday. One moment I think they're down, the next, I watch them play and see enough to make me think they can get out. But crucially, time is ticking, 14 games remain and they're seven points back, this gives them a massive opportunity to close the gap on those above.
They lost 2-0 away at Leicester in midweek, a game they were never in, but the two games before that are far more relevant. A home 2-0 win over Birmingham is the kind of performance that will get them out of danger. But a 4-0 away defeat against Huddersfield, also in the relegation zone, is nowhere near enough to get them out.
Match PredictionA massive game at the bottom. Wednesday have shown hope, but most of that has been at home, this is an away fixture. Millwall have no form, but have faced some tough sides recently. In the end, I think it'll be close, but I'm dropping on the side of Millwall to take this, a narrow home win, and a big help to their survival chances.
