On Sunday evening, Sevilla and Villarreal go head-to-head at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as the visitors look to continue a decent recent run.
Sevilla form guideThe home team’s poor recent form continued on Thursday night, as they went down to a 3-2 Champions League defeat against PSV Eindhoven.
The loss means that Sevilla are without a victory in five games in all competitions, having claimed just one win in their last 12 matches.
However, a 2-1 loss at Real Sociedad in their last La Liga game ended a run of five straight draws for Sevilla in the Spanish top-flight.
The Andalusians have been difficult to beat on home soil of late in the Spanish top-flight, with their previous three Liga games at the Sanchez Pizjuan ending all-square.
Although their recent home outings in La Liga have not all been high-scoring, both teams have scored in seven of their previous eight home matches.
Villarreal form guideMarcelino’s team is in 12th place in the Spanish top-flight standings but just three points ahead of their 15th-place hosts.
However, a 3-2 win over Panathinaikos on Thursday in the Europa League continued a positive run of results. The Yellow Submarine have now claimed victories in three of their previous five competitive games.
Villarreal’s recent La Liga form has been highly inconsistent, as they have won two and lost two of their previous four games in the Spanish top flight. Their recent league outings have been goal-filled, as their last four matches in La Liga have produced over 3.5 goals.
The visitors have not travelled well of late in the Liga, as they have recorded just one victory in their last five games in the Spanish top-flight.
What am I backing?I believe this could be a fairly even encounter. With that in mind, the bet I am backing is the draw.
