Sassuolo vs Napoli Prediction (28.02.2024)

We've got two midweek games in Serie A this week, as teams catch up on games they've missed. In this one, we've got Sasssulo, desperately fighting against relegation this season, and on Wednesday night they will host Napoli, a team that have continued to disappoint this season, on the back of winning the title last season.

It's been a tough season for Sassuolo and we are seeing nothing from them that shows they can get out of danger. With 20 points, they are in 17th, just one place above the relegation zone, but two of the sides inside the relegation zone, Verona and Cagliari, also have 20 points, showing how tight it is down there.

You have to go back to the start of January to find the last time Sassuolo won a game, a narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina. since then, they've played six games, lost five of those with just one draw against Torino. At the weekend, Sassuolo lost 3-2 against fellow relegation side Empoli.

The season continues to go onwards for Napoli, and it doesn't get any better. They're still a talking point, and just when I fancied them to bag a win at the weekend, they failed to do so. I'm struggling to get a grip on them, but at the same time, know they have enough quality to win games like this one they're in on Wednesday.

In 9th with 37 points, Napoli have lost just one of their last five, that' fine, but they've also only won one of their last five, and that's not good enough if they want to climb the table between now and the end. They've drawn their last three in all competitions, on Sunday away at Cagliari, last week at home to Barcelona and just over a week ago, at home to Genoa.

Napoli have failed me a few times, but given the form Sassuolo are in, I am prepared to give them one more chance. I'll take Napoli here, to finally back another win.
