Lazio vs Sassuolo Prediction (26.05.2024)

Lazio have a very outside chance of the top six, but would need a swing in goal difference that seems a little too big. They do have the chance to rack up a big win themselves on the final day though, when they welcome Sassuolo, a team who were relegated to Serie B last weekend, and have nothing to play for.

Lazio have ended the season well, and will be pleased with their efforts even if they just fail to manage to grab onto 6th spot. A couple of draws recently have prevented them from reaching Roma, but they're secure in 7th, regardless of what happens on the final weekend.

In all competitions they are seven games unbeaten, with five wins and two draws, that is six in the league and one in the Coppa Italia. They've drawn twice recently though, a 1-1 tie with Inter on Sunday, and a 2-2 tie with Monza also, those have really stopped them from fighting Roma hard.

It's going to be tough for Sassuolo to get up for the final game of the season knowing that they have nothing to play for in it. They're relegated to Serie B, but given how they've performed for this season, in particular the second half of it, I don't think they can be too surprised.

While teams around them have been pulling points out of the bag, Sassuolo have struggled and are currently on a run where they've won just one of their last nine games, and it was a huge shock win over Inter Milan. The final nail was at the weekend, a 2-0 loss at home to Cagliari to send them down.

I see nothing other than a comfortable win for Lazio here. They've ended the season well and can get another three points on the final day against a struggling and now relegated Sassuolo team.
