Inter vs Salernitana Prediction (16.02.2024)

We often have top v bottom clashes in football, but this one is a genuine one, the team at the very top of the table, going up against the team at the bottom of the table. It's 1st place Inter Milan as the home team on Friday night, and they take on 20th placed Salernitana in this one.

Just when it was needed, Inter Milan have been perfect, and they've regained their position as the leaders in Serie A, after losing it when they went to Saudi Arabia to play in the Italian Super Cup. They've come back flying, and created a gap, they are clear by seven points over Juventus, and have a game in hand on them.

It's come thanks to Inter winning their last five league games in a row. During that period they won twice to take the Italian Super Cup, so it's seven games in a row they've won in all competitions. The most recent of those came last Saturday, when they won 4-2 away at Roma.

It's been a tough season for Salernitana so far, they've struggled, and continue to do so. They are rock bottom, with just two wins so far this season, and only 13 points in total. That makes them seven points short of safety, which is quickly becoming a big gap for them to try and recover from.

It's been tough going recently for Salernitana. From their last six games, they have been beaten five times, and drawn once, so just one point from those matches, which is no where near enough for what they need. Last weekend they lost 3-1 at home to Empoli, another team struggling near the bottom with them.

This really should be a comfortable night for Inter Milan, who are playing well and should have way too much quality to dispatch a struggling Salernitana side. I am going to back Inter Milan on the -1.5 Asian handicap line, covering them to win this game by two goals or more, I think this will be a wide margin win.
