Borussia Dortmund vs PSV Eindhoven Prediction (13.03.2024)

The UEFA Champions League is back in our lives this week as we get ready for the second leg of the round of 16 ties. While there are certainly favourites amongst the pack, every single team left in the running will believe they’re in with a chance of lifting that famous trophy. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fascinating encounter between Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven.

This campaign has been one to remember thus far for Borussia Dortmund. They entered a group of death and instead of cowering away, they’ve had a really strong showing, to the point where they secured qualification to the knockouts pretty early. Now, they need to focus on ending strong, giving themselves even more momentum than they’ve already got in Europe.

You could certainly make the argument that PSV were the better of the two teams in the first leg, but despite that, they weren’t quite able to kill the game off - or even really look good in front of goal. The end result was a tense 1-1 draw.

PSV Eindhoven are attempting to establish themselves as the big dogs in Dutch football once again but as we know, that’s going to be easier said than done. They’ve made their way into the knockouts of the Champions League and they did so in some style, and in a tie like this, you’d have to imagine they’ll believe they have a chance of springing an upset.

Dortmund and PSV are both underdogs in their own right and as we saw in the first leg, they’re pretty evenly matched. Now, it comes down to who wants it more, and we actually think they’re going to draw this game with their encounter being decided in extra time - and potentially on penalties.
