It's the penultimate weekend of action in the Championship, and Leicester City begin the weekend in pole position. Both Leeds and Ipswich play before them as they don't play until Monday, but neither can overtake Leicester, regardless of their scores. On Monday night, The Foxes travel away from home to face Preston, a side slipping into mid table after falling out of the playoff battle.
Preston Form GuideOne time playoff challengers, Preston have fallen away from that, and also dropped into some fairly bad form. They're down in 10th right now, but that could be a place worse by the time this game takes place, depending on the results of those around them.
They are here on the back of three defeats in a row. To make matters worse, Preston have failed to score in all three of those games. They lost 1-0 away at QPR last weekend, before that they lost 3-0 at Southampton and 1-0 at home to Norwich. It's been a tough spell, and they look like a side who are disappointed after missing out on the playoffs.
Leicester Form GuideBest case scenario for Leicester and they could be promoted by the time they play this game, that's if Leeds lose on Friday, but they cannot win the title, as even an Ipswich loss keeps them in the race. But worst case, Leicester will be one ahead of Leeds, two ahead of Ipswich, and of course the scenario they are in will really impact this game.
After struggling under pressure, and losing two in a row, Leicester come here on the back of winning two in a row, and you get the feeling that the ship has been settled a little now. They won 5-0 at home to Southampton in midweek, before that, won 2-1 at home to West Brom last weekend. This is more like the Leicester we all know, and have seen earlier in the season.
Match PredictionA big game for Leicester, and it's one I think they win. They won't have the title wrapped up, regardless of what happens over the weekend before this, but with Preston struggling to win and score, I'll take Leicester to take another step towards the Premier League here.
