We have a host of Ligue One fixtures to get excited about this weekend as we prepare to enter the month of March. There is thrilling action across French football’s top tier for fans to consume and as we enter the final third of the campaign, everything is still to play for at both ends of the table. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an interesting clash between Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.
Monaco Form GuideMonaco serve as an ever-present member of the French elite when it comes to the beautiful game and so far this season, they’re making a real effort to prove why they should be viewed as such. They are starting to redefine themselves as an exciting entity at this level and while there’s still a long way to go, there are plenty of reasons to believe that the future is bright.
Monaco went to war with Lens last weekend and we don’t think that’s an overstatement. The two truly did engage in a battle that, ultimately, came down to the wire, with Monaco coming out on top with a comfortable 3-2 victory on the road.
PSG Form GuideParis Saint-Germain have been the top dogs in France for as long as we can remember but up to this point, they haven’t quite been able to translate that into success on the European stage. They still have superstar names at their disposal and Kylian Mbappe is the main man up top, but you have to wonder whether or not a rebuild is on the way sooner rather than later.
PSG’s push for yet another title hit a bit of a stumbling block last weekend when they played host to Rennes. The visitors matched them blow for blow and in the end, were good value for the 1-1 draw that they came away from the capital with.
Match PredictionPSG certainly aren’t invincible, and we get the feeling that they’ve been somewhat thrown off by all the Mbappe speculation in the last week or so. Monaco, on the other hand, will still want to believe in the outside chance of a title miracle. For those reasons, we’re going to predict a draw.
