On Saturday night, Osasuna and Athletic Club meet at El Sadar as the home team looks to build on their opening gameweek victory in La Liga.
Osasuna form guideThe team from Pamplona kicked off the new Spanish top-flight season with a 2-0 win at Celta Vigo. The victory means that Arrasate’s team has now won three of their last four games in La Liga dating back to last season. Osasuna has also been relatively prolific in those recent victories, scoring at least two goals in all three wins.
Osasuna has turned El Sadar into a fortress of late in La Liga as they head into this clash on the back of five wins in their previous six league outings.
The home team has undoubtedly had their shooting boots on of late on home soil, as they have scored at least two goals in all of those recent league wins in front of their own support.
Athletic Club form guideLos Leones kicked off the new Spanish top-flight campaign with a 2-0 home defeat by Real Madrid. The defeat on the opening weekend of the campaign continued Athletic’s poor form from the end of last season, which cost them European football, as they are now winless in four games in La Liga.
Athletic’s recent league matches have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their previous nine games.
The boys from Bilbao don’t have a great recent away record in the Spanish top flight, as they have failed to win in any of their previous four league games on their travels. They have also gone seven away games in La Liga without a clan sheet.
What am I backing?Osasuna made a good start to their league campaign with a win over Celta Vigo. The team from Pamplona are also strong at El Sadar, so I am backing the home team to once again emerge victorious from this clash.
