Orlando City SC vs Minnesota United FC Prediction (10.03.2024)

Major League Soccer is back in our lives for yet another season of action across North America. We’re in the early stages of the new campaign but there’s already so much to get excited about from West to East, as the majority of teams gear up for a hopeful run to the MLS Cup. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an intriguing clash between Orlando City and Minnesota United.

Last year, Orlando City had the kind of campaign that had many believing in them all over again. The boys in purple were able carve out a really solid season and managed to reach the playoffs, with the big question now being whether or not they can repeat that success. There’s no guarantee one way or the other, but one thing is for sure, they have a fanbase that’s hungry to see them go even further.

Orlando came into the season with a lot of confidence on their shoulders - but based on their performance on Saturday, it may have been misplaced, as they were humbled in a 5-0 defeat to Inter Miami.

One of the big problems for Minnesota United in recent years has been consistency - with last season serving as a shining example of that. They finished down in 11th place in the Western Conference, and while the stats suggest they weren’t too far away from a place in the playoffs, they really wouldn’t have deserved to make it there based on the quality of their play.

Minnesota welcomed the champions Columbus last weekend in what proved to be a pretty entertaining game. Columbus took a 1-0 lead early in the second half, with Minnesota grabbing a dramatic equaliser in the 95th minute.

Our expectation for this game is that both Orlando and Minnesota are going to put their best foot forward in an attempt to really make a statement. Neither side really knows their complete identity at this moment in time and because of that, we’re going to predict over 2.5 goals scored.
