The Premier League is back once again this weekend as we get ready for the final set of February fixtures this season. English football’s top flight has been producing some incredible games all campaign long and as we look ahead to the next few months, we expect more of the same. Today, we’ll look at what should be an entertaining clash between Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Arsenal Form GuideWhile Arsenal are certainly still considered one of the favourites for the title, recent form suggests they aren’t ahead of Manchester City or Liverpool right now. Mikel Arteta knows where the weak spots are in his side and hopefully, he’s made the most of the time off they’ve had. Now, it’s a case of seeing how the Gunners can respond on the pitch in the weeks ahead.
Arsenal aren’t exactly coming into this game with a whole lot of confidence behind them. While they did batter Burnley 5-0 last weekend, they also conceded a last minute goal on the road to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
Newcastle Form GuideWhile things are certainly moving in a positive direction for Newcastle United Football Club, things haven’t been smooth sailing for Eddie Howe’s men this season. They’re currently lingering around mid-table and while there’s still a decent chance they could win silverware between now and the end of May, they need to make some big tactical adjustments.
Newcastle were held to a 4-4 draw by Luton, they barely scraped past Nottingham Forest 3-2, and then they played host to Bournemouth. While they did score an injury time equaliser, a 2-2 draw at home to the Cherries isn’t exactly reassuring for the Magpies faithful.
Match PredictionArsenal should consider themselves the favourites in this one and we do think they’re likely to get the win against a Newcastle side short of confidence. Alas, Arteta’s men have a tendency to slip up every now and then, which is why we’re more confident in an under 2.5 goals scored prediction.
