Netherlands vs England Prediction (10.07.2024)

We’ve arrived at the semi-final stage of UEFA Euro 2024, and it’s safe to say that things are getting serious. There are just four nations left in the running as they aim to become European champions and at this point, it really could go either way. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at the second of the two semi-finals as we gear up to watch Netherlands collide with England in Dortmund.

Netherlands have been through every emotion possible throughout the course of this campaign but for the most part, they’ve looked pretty solid. Their passionate fanbase is dreaming of a trip to the final and, all things considered, some would argue that they’re the favourites at this point. Of course, the key is going to be ensuring their big players perform in what is the biggest game of their careers.

The Dutch kicked off their knockout run with a really comprehensive win over Romania, picking up a 3-0 win that probably flattered them a bit when you consider how the game played out. From there, they were forced to come back from 1-0 down in order to overcome and defeat Turkey 2-1.

England supporters have experienced several mini-heart attacks during Euro 2024, and that feels like an understatement. It’s no secret that there isn’t much love for the tactics of manager Gareth Southgate but even with that being the case, they’ve still managed to edge their way into the semis. If you consider how fortunate they’ve been up to this point, it really wouldn’t be too surprising if they won it all.

With 90 seconds left in their round of 16 game, England were heading for a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Slovakia. Alas, Jude Bellingham made magic happen with a great equaliser before Harry Kane won it in extra time. Then, in the quarters, they were taken to penalties by Switzerland, who they were able to defeat.

It’s really hard to call who is going to be the winner here because while the Dutch have been able to show what they can do in front of goal, the Three Lions have been pretty resilient defensively. So, at the risk of being viewed as cowards, our formal prediction is a draw that sends this one into extra time.
