Major League Soccer is back in our lives for yet another season of action across North America. We’re in the early stages of the new campaign but there’s already so much to get excited about from West to East, as the majority of teams gear up for a hopeful run to the MLS Cup. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an intriguing clash between Colorado Rapids and Nashville SC.
Colorado Form GuideLast season, the wooden spoon in the West went to Colorado. The Rapids only managed to win five games all season long and while they do have a few highlight reel players to brag about, that doesn’t mean much when you have no consistency or general ideology to speak of. They have a lot of work to do, and that much is an understatement.
By the time we reached half time in Colorado’s clash with Portland, they were already 4-0 down. They did manage to respond with a consolation goal in the 55th minute but based on the game as a whole, this campaign could be just as ugly as the last one for the Rapids.
Nashville Form GuideNashville, for the longest time, were really pushing the tempo towards the top of the Eastern Conference - until they fell away massively. They wound up finishing 7th in the division and, to the surprise of nobody, went out of the playoffs pretty quickly at the hands of Orlando City. At this point, it’ll be interesting to see how they’ve been able to rebound from that disappointment.
Nashville went head to head with NY Red Bulls in their opening game of the MLS season and, to be perfectly honest, they left a lot to be desired. They had just five shots on goal throughout the entire game, with the end result being a dull 0-0 draw.
Match PredictionColorado and Nashville are both entertaining teams when they really get going, but from time to time, they can allow themselves to get complacent. In this particular setting, we don’t expect them to blow either one away, which is why we’re going to shoot for a draw.
