The Major League Soccer season is in full swing now as we continue to march through the month of May. While leagues across Europe may be starting to wind down, things are only just picking up across North America as teams up and down the MLS strive to make an impact. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between CF Montreal and Inter Miami.
Montreal Form GuideThe city of Montreal flies under the radar when it comes to picking out passionate fanbases. The teams they have behind them are ones built on the shoulders of giants, and the same goes for CF Montreal. They aren’t the biggest and they aren’t the baddest but we do think they’ve got potential to grow, especially in a conference that looks set to be wide open once again.
Nashville really came at Montreal from the word go last weekend and punished them for their defensive frailities. The boys from Canada certainly had their moments but in the end, it was Tennessee’s finest that walked away with a really impressive 4-1 win.
Miami Form GuideInter Miami, in totality, didn’t have a great campaign last year - but now, everything has changed. The main difference has been the introduction of Lionel Messi, which has given the franchise new life in more ways than one. Now, we’re left to wait and see whether or not the presence of the king can help guide them to an elusive MLS Cup success.
Miami and NY Red Bulls both knew that their clash last weekend would give them a good idea of where they’re at in terms of the ‘contenders’ towards the top of the MLS. Ultimately, it wasn’t actually that competitive at all, with Inter dominating the game and securing an emphatic 6-2 victory.
Match PredictionMontreal are more than capable of competing with some of the best teams in the league and that much goes without saying. In equal measure, the visitors could be gearing up for a campaign that changes the entire trajectory of their franchise. Therefore, we’re going to back an Inter Miami win.
