We’re entering the final stages of the Ligue 1 season as teams up and down French football’s top flight attempt to finish the campaign off strong. It’s been a rollercoaster ride up to this point and over the course of the next few weeks, we expect to see more of the same across the nation. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming encounter between Monaco and Lille.
Monaco Form GuideMonaco serve as an ever-present member of the French elite when it comes to the beautiful game and so far this season, they’re making a real effort to prove why they should be viewed as such. They are starting to redefine themselves as an exciting entity at this level and while there’s still a long way to go, there are plenty of reasons to believe that the future is bright.
Across their last six games, Monaco have put together a nice unbeaten run. They drew with PSG and Lorient, but alongside that, they were able to secure four really nice wins over Strasbourg, Metz, Rennes and, most recently, Brest.
Lille Form GuideWe are a few years removed from the heroics of Lille winning Ligue One and ever since then, they haven’t quite been able to sustain the momentum they built for themselves. That doesn’t mean they haven’t got a good base or a good squad - far from it. In fact, if recent evidence is anything to go by, their momentum towards the end of this campaign could take them back to the UCL.
Lille’s European journey came to an end against Aston Villa on penalties after an aggregate score of 3-3 over the course of two legs. They also drew 1-1 with Brest, alongside nice victories over Lens, Marseille and, most recently, Strasbourg.
Match PredictionThis one is interesting as both sides are full of quality and full of confidence right now. If nothing else, we expect this to be a really fun game to watch between two sides that have a whole lot to gain. In terms of an official prediction, though, we’re going to shoot for a Monaco win.
