UEFA Euro 2024 will take place next summer and the road to qualifying for that tournament continues this week with the latest international break. As clubs across the continent hit the pause button on their domestic leagues, plenty of countries will be hoping to edge closer to the finals. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun encounter between Ireland and Greece.
Poland Form GuideFor years now, it’s felt as if the Poland national team has been going through a golden generation and a half - or, at least, that’s what we’ve been told. Despite that, they’ve never really been able to live up to their potential on the world stage. The Poles are one of the most interesting countries to watch when firing on all cylinders, but inconsistency is a big issue for them.
After losing 3-1 to Czech Republic in March, the Poles responded with nice wins over Albania and Germany. They did, however, lose 3-2 to Moldova, before a 2-0 win over Faroe Islands set them up for a surprising result as they lost 2-0 to Albania.
Moldova Form GuideAfter years of being viewed as minnows and little more, Moldova are slowly but surely beginning to make a run in what has emerged as an unbelievably unpredictable Group E climate. They have strength, they have grit, and all they need is to find some consistency in front of goal and they could be off to the races - or, in this case, off to the European Championship.
Competitively speaking, Moldova have done really well this year. They started off with a draw against Faroe Islands and Czech Republic before narrowly losing to Albania. From there, they beat Poland, earned a draw against Austria in a friendly and edged past Faroe Islands in a 1-0 rematch win.
Match PredictionThis one is pretty tough to call given how their last encounter went, in addition to the fact that the hosts are failing to really live up to their end of the bargain in terms of expectations. Still, even though it’ll probably go down to the wire, we still expect the home crowd to get Poland through with a win.
