The Championship is back on Saturday, and in this game, we have two sides who are so far performing well below the expectations I had on them this season. Two playoff contenders I marked them down as, but heading into the weekend, Millwall are in 15th and Coventry are below in 20th, the importance of the three points here is big.
Millwall Form GuideOn a couple of occasions, and only a couple really, we have seen the real Millwall stand up and show us what they're capable of. But that's not been the case for anywhere near enough, just five wins on the board from 16 games, Millwall are six points away from the playoff spots.
They do come here on the back of a win, something they'll be looking to build on now they are back in action. That was a big win too, they went away to struggling Sheffield Wednesday and won 4-0. Before that, it wasn't as good, losses to Southampton and Blackburn came alongside draws with Watford, Preston and Hull.
Coventry Form GuideThe biggest disappointment of the Championship season so far has been Coventry, without a doubt. Losers in the playoff final on penalties last season, they were inches away from Premier League football. They lost key players, but re-invested money, though we are not seeing that work just yet. Down in 20th, just five points clear of the relegation zone, it's been a tough start, and we really need to see Coventry digging a lot deeper to get points.
A draw before the international break with Stoke, a game that ended 0-0, stopped the rot, before that, Coventry had gone four games without a win, including a loss to Rotherham, a team below them in the table.
Match PredictionA game that both sides would love to win and take some momentum from, but only one can, and the team I am picking to win this game is Millwall. The better side so far this season, I still think there are many problems for Coventry to solve, so with that in mind, it's a home win for me.
