We’re entering the final stages of the Ligue 1 season as teams up and down French football’s top flight attempt to finish the campaign off strong. It’s been a rollercoaster ride up to this point and over the course of the next few weeks, we expect to see more of the same across the nation. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming encounter between Le Havre and Metz.
Le Havre Form GuideLast season was an incredibly memorable one for Le Havre as they earned promotion to the top flight by winning Ligue 2. They did so after a phenomenal title race with their opponents last weekend and while they haven’t quite blown everyone away this season, the main aim is to survive - and as it stands, they’re going to do that, but there’s more work to be done.
Across their last six games, Le Havre have only picked up one win - a 1-0 triumph over Toulouse. Alongside that, they’ve drawn 1-1 with Lens, and they’ve been narrowly beaten by Brest, Clermont, Montpellier and Nantes.
Metz Form GuideAfter just one season away from the spotlight, Metz are back in the big time - and they’re ready to ruffle a few feathers. They aren’t considered to be too much of a threat by the elite of the elite but for them, that probably won’t matter a whole lot. They have the talent necessary to spring an upset here and there, but many don’t believe it’ll be enough to ultimately keep them up.
Following big wins over Nantes and Clermont, Metz slipped to three straight losses against Reims, Monaco and Brest. They did, however, surprise many by picking up a much-needed 2-1 win at home to Lens last weekend.
Match PredictionThe threat of relegation is a pretty powerful thing and we’re expecting to see these two sides really go for it here - because at this point, what have they got to lose? We’re not convinced it’s going to be a classic, though, which is why we’re going to predict a draw.
