We’re coming down to the wire now as we approach the end of the regular season in Major League Soccer. It’s been an incredible campaign full of remarkable moments and while the playoffs are on the horizon, there are still a few things left to be resolved. With that being said, it’s time to take a look at the impending clash between LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake.
LA Galaxy Form GuideThey’ve done well to make a push but it’s simply too little, too late when it comes to a playoff push for LA Galaxy. They certainly have quality in their ranks and they definitely have something to build on during the off-season, but for now, all they can do is send the fans home happy and climb as far up the Western Conference table as possible in the next few games.
The only way to describe Galaxy’s games as of late would be ‘thrilling’. They lost 4-2 to LAFC, beat Minnesota 4-3, then had two 3-3 draws with Austin and Portland. From there, though, they ran out of steam, suffering defeats to Seattle (2-1) and Minnesota (5-2).
Salt Lake Form GuideWhile their place in the playoffs may be secure, the last thing Salt Lake will want to contend with is a venture into the wildcard round. They are more than good enough to end the campaign strong and even position themselves higher up in the West, but when it comes to the post-season, there are some understandable questions being asked about their overall potential.
Salt Lake did well to break a two-game losing streak with a two-game winning streak, narrowly seeing off the challenge of Vancouver and LAFC with solid wins. They did, however, fail to overcome Kansas City, losing 3-2 on their own home turf.
Match PredictionIt’s the end of the season, there’s very little left to lose, and both teams have had their struggles defensively. This has all the makings of a game that’s going to appeal to the neutrals, with our official prediction being that over 2.5 goals will be scored across the 90 minutes.
