On Sunday afternoon, Livingston and Celtic clash at the Toni Macaroni Arena in a big game for the visitors in the SPL title race.

The home team heads into this clash on the back of a four-game winless run in the SPL, including three defeats and a draw.

Livi’s poor form has left them bottom of the table and ten points behind 11th-place Ross County. The home team is unlikely to make up that sort of gap to beat the drop this season.

One of the home side’s main issues has been in defence, as not only have they conceded at least three goals in three of their previous four SPL matches, but they also have the worst defensive record in the division this season.

The visitors have been in decent form lately in the SPL, as they have won three of their previous four matches in the Scottish top-flight, scoring at least three goals in each win.

The recent good form has kept Celtic top of the standings, a point clear of bitter city-rivals Rangers. However, their rivals have a game in hand, so the fight for the title could go down to the wire this season.

Celtic have been typically prolific this season, as the Hoops are the league’s top goalscorers in the SPL. Brendan Rodgers’s team has spread the goals around.

However, Denmark international Matt O’Riley is the team’s leading goalscorer with 11 goals in 29 appearances in the SPL.

Celtic’s recent away record had been decent until a 2-0 defeat at Hearts in their last away game ended a five-game unbeaten run in the SPL on their travels.

Celtic are undoubtedly the big favourites to win this clash. The away win offers little value. However, the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored, as the game pitches the league’s best attack up against the worst defence, which tells me there will be goals.
