The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break as we continue with the run-in toward the end of the campaign. There’s still plenty left to fight for at both ends of the table, and it feels like we’re going to get a few more answers over the course of the next few days. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Liverpool Form GuideLiverpool are coming off the back of a big League Cup win and while they should be allowed to take time to celebrate that, they’ll also want to keep their eyes on the future. With this being Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, they need to do everything in their power to help send him out on top - and if they play their cards right, that could mean winning the treble.
In the last month or so, Liverpool have registered big wins over Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Sparta Prague (twice). In addition, they’ve also drawn 1-1 with Manchester City to run alongside a disappointing 4-3 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cfup.
Brighton Form GuideFor Brighton & Hove Albion, any hope of silverware this season has come and gone - but that doesn’t mean their season is over. The fight is on to keep European football coming in on the south coast and even though this season has been trickier than the last, they still have the quality necessary to make some real waves between now and the end of May.
Following three straight losses to Wolves, Fulham and Roma, Brighton got back on track by defeating Nottingham Forest 1-0. They went on to avenge their Roma defeat with a second leg victory, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the aggregate score as they crashed out of the Europa League.
Match PredictionThe Reds may be short on numbers but what they aren’t short on is motivation. They know what’s at stake between now and the end of the season, and this weekend hands them the perfect opportunity to go top of the table. In terms of a prediction, we’re going to shoot for a Liverpool win.
