Morocco vs Liberia Prediction (17.10.2023)

On Saturday night, Morocco and Liberia go head-to-head at the Stade d'Agadir in Group K of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations.

The Atlas Lions have already booked their place at next year's African Cup of Nations, as they are five points clear of third-place Liberia heading into this final group game.

Morocco won their opening two games in Group K against South Africa and Saturday night’s opponents before suffering a 2-1 defeat at group leaders South Africa. In fact, the defeat last time out in Johannesburg ended a 13-game unbeaten run for Morocco in qualifying for the home team.

Morocco are unbeaten on home soil in African Cup of Nations in 16 games, having recorded 14 wins and two draws. The Atlas Lions' main strength on home soil has been their defensive record, as they have kept clean sheets in ten of their last 12 games.

Liberia have failed to win any of their last four games in African Cup of Nations qualifying, having won just once in their previous six qualifiers. Their recent AFCON qualifiers have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven matches.

The visitors have been poor on their travels in African Cup of Nations qualifying, failing to win in their last six qualifiers away from home. That poor record in the qualifiers includes four defeats in the six-game winless run. Liberia has been poor in defence on their travels in AFCON qualifiers, conceding at least two goals in seven of their last ten outings.

Morocco’s recent qualifying on home soil is excellent, and I fancy the home side to record another victory in this clash.
