The UEFA Champions League is back in our lives this week with all 32 clubs involved having two games remaining in their push for the knockouts. There’s a whole lot left to be determined across the next two matchdays and today, we’re going to take a look at what we expect to be a really entertaining clash as Arsenal lock horns with Lens.
Arsenal Form GuideArsenal are a club reborn and it doesn’t feel like that’s too cheesy to say. The Gunners have worked incredibly hard under Mikel Arteta to get back to the big dance and now that they’re here, they are making the most of their opportunity. The only question, really, is how far they can go, and whether or not they can surprise a few of the regulars along the way.
Arsenal tore through PSV to get their campaign off to a great start, but out of nowhere, they slipped to a surprising 2-1 defeat against Lens. They did bounce back in the right manner, though, defeating Sevilla home and away to reclaim control of the group.
Lens Form GuideLast season, Lens truly did push PSG every step of the way in the title race and that’s a huge credit to how much hard work they’ve been putting in as a club in recent years. They were just one point away from springing an upset and for them, that’s a big takeaway. Now, though, they need to re-focus as they continue their historic venture into Champions League football.
After picking up a point away to Sevilla, Lens surprised many by defeating Arsenal 2-1. From there, they drew 1-1 with PSV, and they struggled to find their footing in the rematch as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat in the Netherlands.
Match PredictionLens know that they can hurt Arsenal and we think they’re going to be flooding them with set pieces and crosses into the box here. Alas, while we do think they’ll probably get on the scoresheet, it won’t mean too much with Arsenal walking away as the winners.
