Watford vs Leicester Prediction (10.02.2024)

League leaders Leicester City continue to go well at the top of the Championship, and as we get ready to move into the final part of the season, they're on course for an immediate return to the Premier League. On Saturday they are away from home, with Watford their hosts, a team who are mid table, but not too far away from the playoff positions.

In 11th position as we go into the weekend, that's normally not enough to be in the playoff mix, but things are so tight right now, that Watford definitely are. They're four points behind 6th place, but a recent poor run has prevented them from being far more involved, as they've won just one of their last five.

That success came away at struggling QPR, but elsewhere, it's been much tougher. They lost in the league last weekend at home to Cardiff, losing that game 1-0, and since then, during midweek, they've also been beaten in the FA Cup, losing 3-0 away at Southampton.

It's been much of the same for Leicester City, as they continue to set the second tier on fire with their excellence. They've won a hugely impressive 23 of their 30 Championship games so far, and suffered just four losses. With 72 points, they being the weekend 11 clear of Southampton in second, and 12 clear of Leeds in third.

They've won their last two in the league in great style, and added a big cup win just before that. Last weekend it was sheer class, a 5-0 away win at Stoke, before that a 3-1 home win over Swansea and in the cup, a 3-0 home win over Birmingham, showing just how dominant this team can be when at their best.

Leicester look a class above, and last weekend, we saw them as good as we've seen all season, such was the dominance of their display at Stoke. They can do it at home or away, it doesn't matter, and this weekend, I am backing them to take another three points and another step towards returning to the Premier League.
