Second as we begin the weekend, Leeds remain on course for automatic promotion, and are pushing hard for the title. But this three horse race is still incredibly tight, and they've got a very tough away game at the weekend as they travel to Coventry, a team in the playoff race and desperate for points themselves.
Coventry Form GuideCoventry missed a golden opportunity on Monday as they were beaten when every other team around them also lost. They remain four points off Norwich in 6th, with one game in hand, but that lead could have been one. Before that, they won three in a row, and have a huge FA Cup semi final on the horizon against Manchester United.
Their loss on Monday was a 2-1 home defeat against mid table Cardiff, where Liam Kitching scored two own goals, Cardiff didn't actually score in the game. Before that it was better, three wins in a row with a 3-1 win at Huddersfield and 2-1 win at Watford on their travels, and a big 5-0 win at home to Rotherham.
Leeds Form GuideStill unbeaten in the league in 2024, but I'm not so sure Leeds have been as convincing in recent games. Four points from last weekend's double header has kept them in 2nd place in the standings, one behind Ipswich at the top and one above Leicester below, but Leicester do hold a game in hand on both the top two.
They won 3-1 on Monday evening at home to Hull, rescuing the game late and before that on Friday night, managed a draw with Watford, 2-2 away from home, again needing a late goal to get a point from that one. It's not vintage Leeds, but at this stage of the season, points are all that really matter.
Match PredictionA huge game for both sides, I think Leeds are the better team, but we've not seen the best of them recently, so with that in mind, I am going to take Coventry to get something here. I will back them on the double chance market, covering a Coventry win or the draw.
