Chateauroux vs LE Havre Prediction (21.01.2024)

We’re entering the nitty-gritty of the Coupe de France as we approach the round of 32. The majority of clubs left in the competition will feel as if they’ve got a solid chance of going all the way but in cup football, you truly never know what’s around the next corner. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Chateauxroux and Le Havre.

Chateauroux currently compete in the third tier of French football and have only ever spent one season in the top flight. Still, that hasn’t stopped them from putting together a nice run to the last 32 here, and we expect them to come into this one full of confidence. They have nothing to lose, a lot of spirit and the fanbase necessary to create a tough atmosphere for the visitors.

In the seventh round of the competition, Chateauroux edged past Red Star 2-1. Then, in the eighth, they were a little bit more convincing as they battered Douvres 5-1. Up next was the challenge of taking on Les Herbiers, who they were able to dispatch on penalties.

Last season was an incredibly memorable one for Le Havre as they earned promotion to the top flight by winning Ligue 2. They did so after a phenomenal title race with their opponents last weekend and while they haven’t quite started like a house on fire thus far, they’ve put together enough positive results to leave fans believing that there’s real potential in the campaign ahead.

Le Havre’s one and only game in the competition so far this season wasn’t quite as straightforward as they would’ve hoped. They managed to beat Caen 2-1, but they had to hold on at times in a game that probably should’ve been a bit more emphatic for them.

Chateauroux will be happy to have gotten to this point, and we also feel like they’ll believe they can cause Le Havre problems at the back. Alas, while that may be the case, the true class of the visitors will shine through in the end - which is why we’re backing a Le Havre win.
